Business challenge

Every incoming batch arrived with a certificate of analysis in the supplier's own layout. A quality technician read the values from the PDF, found the matching inspection lot and typed characteristic after characteristic into SAP. Certificates piled up, lots waited, and the material waited with them.

Solution

Certificates are collected from a mailbox, a folder or an upload. An AI extraction service reads the batch, the characteristics, the values, units and limits, whatever the layout. The service finds the open inspection lot in SAP QM, maps each certificate line to the corresponding inspection characteristic and compares the value with the specification. In-range results are recorded automatically. Unreadable or out-of-range values are highlighted for a person, with the certificate shown beside the extracted data. A web screen lists every certificate, its status and the lot it filled.

  • Out-of-specification batches are flagged the moment the certificate arrives
  • One screen shows every certificate and what it filled
  • The certificate stays linked to the batch and the inspection lot
